The President will deliver his State of the Union message to Congress on February 4th, followed by submission of his fiscal year 1998 budget on February 6th. (The federal fiscal yearruns from October 1st to September 30th.) The House and Senate Budget Committees will hold hearings prior to adopting their budget resolution, due by April 15th. The IBO will monitor the federal budget as it progresses through Congress and will periodically report on its impact on New York City.
